The green band is the even-money range and the one to plan on: half of outcomes land inside it. The pale band behind it bounds eight in ten ($131,793 to $234,949). The path is this model's own: it starts along the momentum of its recorded history and bends toward its projected median as the horizon lengthens, so no two cars share a future curve.

The verdict

A defensible case with reservations. Scores 57/100, ranking 74 of 104 in the over $100k band. Demand durability is the strongest input, liquidity the weakest.
Running it costs about $11,950 a year (6.5% of value), which is what the economics score measures. All in, including the projected value change, it is $15,148 a year.
The model's five year median is $181,308, a -2.0% move, with the tenth percentile at $131,793.

Scored against every recent Australian sale this library holds, half its values land within 11.2 per cent of the price paid and the rest miss by more, in either direction. Projections are therefore damped toward flat in proportion to how little is known, and the plausible band is never narrower than the error the model is known to make.
This value sits above every recorded sale logged for the model. That is the specific error calibration keeps finding, so treat it as a ceiling rather than a mid-point.

MINUS 17.1 PER CENT, and this record cannot yet say which of two explanations it is: either the 2025 figure included the buyer premium and this one is a hammer, in which case the pair is roughly flat, or both are on the same basis and this model has fallen seventeen per cent in fifteen months. The published call named the first explanation before the hammer and put it at about $143,000, which is what the car made - consistent with it, not proof of it. 2 completed Australian sales of 4 rows. Rows marked asking, no sale, or context are shown for honesty but do not count toward the evidence grade: an ask is not a transaction, a pass-in is a refusal, and a provenance or overseas result does not price the ordinary local car. The badge on every row is computed by the same rule as the grade, so the two cannot drift apart.

No forecast is used to compute the hurdle. It is the purchase, the duty, any premium and 5 years of running cost, grossed up for the cost of selling and spread back over the hold. The projection it is measured against is the weakest number in this product and is drawn that way in the chart above. Transport, finance and any restoration spend sit outside it.

The case for and against

The case for

The naturally aspirated V10 soundtrack is increasingly prized as rival manufacturers move to turbocharging, and genuine manual gated-shift examples are a small, sought-after subset that command a real premium over E-gear cars. The first Australian result finally puts a transaction under this entry rather than a research estimate, and the local high-kilometre evidence says this market prices documentation ahead of the odometer.

The case against

AWD V10 supercar servicing sits at the top tier of specialist costs, and the market is discerning at 50 days on market. E-gear single-clutch automated manual cars, the majority of the fleet, hold noticeably less appeal than the rare true manual. The international market has effectively stopped clearing: five lots offered across four auction houses in three countries through 2025, none sold, with a price spread tight enough to show these were comparable cars rather than a mismatched sample. Australia now has exactly one result to test that against, and it took 24.5 per cent off this value. The E-gear clutch is a consumable measured in tens of thousands of kilometres, so a high-distance car has had several and the buyer is pricing an unknown one; on this driveline the worst case is a five-figure bill and it cannot be inspected from the outside.

At least one recorded transaction plus a source. Direction is sound, the exact level less so.
Revalued August 2026, $245,000 to $185,000, on the first Australian transaction this record has ever had

On 27 May 2025 a 2012 LP560-4 Bicolore, Australian-delivered, sold through Collecting Cars in Sydney at 116,399 kilometres for $172,500. Worked back through this record’s own adjustments - the odometer term, the Giallo Midas credit, a small deduction for a non-standard exhaust with the original included - that result implies a base near $185,500 as at May 2025, and the fifteen months since have been the worst stretch this model has had. The two retail markers sit higher: the Australian used guide puts a 2012 LP560-4 at $190,500 to $210,600 private buy, and a Western Australian dealer asks $230,990 for a 2010 car at 35,300 kilometres, which is about $193,600 once the usual gap between an ask and a transaction is taken out. The revised figure sits between the transaction and the asks and nearer the transaction, which is where this library puts a number when it finally has one.

Read the bear case that was already on this page

It said, before any of this evidence existed, that the international market had stopped clearing, that Australia had no auction record to test that against, and that this entry carried a value rising every year. All three were true and the third was the warning. The value had risen from $175,000 to $245,000 across a decade in which the only thing that moved was the estimate.

The odometer term was also wrong and is now fixed

This entry moved a value 1.7 per cent per 10,000 kilometres, which put a 118,000-kilometre car only nine per cent under a 65,000-kilometre one. Against European asking prices the real gradient is about three per cent per 10,000, and the kilometre coefficient here has been raised to match. Note what that does NOT solve: the model caps any odometer adjustment at twelve per cent either way, so on a car at nearly twice the expected distance the cap binds and the number it produces is a ceiling rather than an estimate.

There is no kilometre Cliff, which is the useful part

Two Melbourne sales three weeks apart in September 2024 make the point better than any model: a 2005 Gallardo special edition at 117,849 kilometres made $118,000, and a 2005 Gallardo at 39,601 kilometres made $106,000. The car with 78,000 more kilometres made eleven per cent more money. Documentation, specification and presentation outrank the reading, which is why a high-kilometre car with a franchise inspection and a current service is worth materially more than a high-kilometre car without one.

What direction looks like locally,

On the only clean pair available: a 2004 Gallardo at 58,900 kilometres made $137,500 in November 2025 and another 2004 car at 72,436 kilometres made $122,500 in January 2026. Eleven per cent down in two months on more kilometres. Those are pre-facelift 5.0-litre cars and they are deliberately kept out of the sales list on this record, because they are a different variant and counting them would push the evidence grade to a level one transaction cannot support.

No Australian result until now

Twenty-four Gallardo lots appear in the international auction record and none in Australia, so the local figure is a researched estimate against a launch price of $406,000.

International context

Clearance is 46 per cent raw, or 50 per cent once two lots that look like the same car re-offered are collapsed. What matters more is when the failures fall. Across the whole of 2025 the model was offered five times - at CCA in France twice, Iconic and H&H in Britain, and Bonhams in America - and did not sell once. Four houses, three countries, no buyers. The only recent completed sale is an LP 550-2 at US$274,400 in March 2026. The spread is 1.08 times upper quartile to lower, the tightest measured in this library, which means these are genuinely comparable cars rather than a mix of variants. So the failure to clear is about demand, not about what was being offered. The Superleggera and the Valentino Balboni are dearer sub-models and are set aside from the price series: Superleggeras made US$196,000 and US$203,500 in 2021 and 2022, and a Balboni sold within a GBP140,000-GBP180,000 estimate in 2022, while ordinary LP560-4s made GBP63,335, GBP115,875 and CHF75,900.

Adjacent marker

A 2004 pre-LP560 Gallardo made $141,000 at Shannons - the earlier 5.0-litre car trades well below the LP560-4 this entry prices, and that gap is the facelift premium, not noise.
