The green band is the even-money range and the one to plan on: half of outcomes land inside it. The pale band behind it bounds eight in ten ($178,642 to $284,701). The path is this model's own: it starts along the momentum of its recorded history and bends toward its projected median as the horizon lengthens, so no two cars share a future curve.

The verdict

Strong within its price band. Scores 68/100, ranking 23 of 104 in the over $100k band. Demand durability is the strongest input, risk resilience the weakest.
Running it costs about $10,350 a year (5.3% of value), which is what the economics score measures. All in, including the projected value change, it is $7,975 a year.
The model's five year median is $219,475, a +12.6% move, with the tenth percentile at $178,642.

Scored against every recent Australian sale this library holds, half its values land within 11.2 per cent of the price paid and the rest miss by more, in either direction. Projections are therefore damped toward flat in proportion to how little is known, and the plausible band is never narrower than the error the model is known to make.

3 completed Australian sales of 4 rows. Rows marked asking, no sale, or context are shown for honesty but do not count toward the evidence grade: an ask is not a transaction, a pass-in is a refusal, and a provenance or overseas result does not price the ordinary local car. The badge on every row is computed by the same rule as the grade, so the two cannot drift apart.

Cost of access is what the car costs to run. All-in annualised adds depreciation, duty and selling costs across a five year hold. They answer different questions and are labelled separately for that reason.

No forecast is used to compute the hurdle. It is the purchase, the duty, any premium and 5 years of running cost, grossed up for the cost of selling and spread back over the hold. The projection it is measured against is the weakest number in this product and is drawn that way in the chart above. Transport, finance and any restoration spend sit outside it.

The projected value rise offsets part of the running cost. It does not make the car free to own.

The case for and against

The case for

The Phase III's sibling, sharing the shape, the 351 and the Top Loader, at roughly a fifth of the money. 1,557 built against 300 Phase IIIs, so genuine cars are findable.

The case against

Tribute cars are an accepted and openly traded part of this market, which makes verification essential. A GT is not an HO and the gap does not close.

Known faults and risks

Four Australian lots, three of them counted, and the value was below every one of them

This record carried $165,000 against results of $232,000, $265,000 and $295,000. That is not a conservative value, it is a broken one, and the arrival of a fourth lot is what surfaced it.

Read the rest of the evidence notes (4 more)
The $265,000 result is excluded and should always have been

It is described as a one-of-one specification with a factory sunroof. A single car with a unique option list is provenance, not a comparable, and this library carries those as excluded rows.

What is left is three counted Australian results and a clear shape

Two restored Shannons sedans in 2022 at $295,000 in August and $232,000 in November. Then, on 1 April 2026, a matching-numbers Yellow Ochre car with a deluxe ACCHS report made $187,000 at Wodonga.

Read what that car is before reading the fall

It left Broadmeadows as an AUTOMATIC and now runs a four-speed manual. The large tank has been swapped out. There is rust in both front doors, the roof lining is torn, and it is unregistered. A GT that has had its transmission changed is not the car the two 2022 lots were. So the gap between $232,000 and $187,000 is part market and part specification, and three results cannot separate them.

The value moves from $165,000 to $195,000

Above the April 2026 result, because that car is a compromised example and it still cleared $187,000, and below the 2022 Shannons pair, because the market has plainly come off that level and those cars were restored and original. SOURCING: one auction lot page read in full, plus three aggregator-surfaced results.
